In the Academy, I provide affordable mentorship programmes for coaches, therapists, and healers who want to elevate their wellbeing practice.

In contrast to many sales and marketing people out in the world who use spirituality as a marketing technique, I have a genuinely heart-centred motivation for providing these mentorship services.

The three areas of mentorship:

I have found that there are three main areas that wellbeing solopreneurs tend to struggle with:

Niche:

The number one reason that holistic, spiritual, therapy, and wellbeing practitioners are not successful in their practice is that they do not have a niche.

Most practitioners focus on their modalities, how they work, and listing their training credentials. But the unfortunate truth is that your potential clients don’t really care so much about these things. If you provide local services, you may get people who are looking for the cheapest practitioner to provide them with a particular modality every now and again. But you are not likely to get plenty of high quality clients who will take your services seriously.

The solution to this problem is to find a specialist niche. This needs to be something which you are passionate about, and which you consider to be a highly valued service. Often this will be a problem which you have worked through yourself, and where you can help others in a genuinely meaningful way.

Whilst it may sound easy, it can take an incredibly long time to align yourself with the work that you feel you were born to do. Then, once you have found your niche, you also need to create your services in a way which will fit well into your life and personal values.

Mindset:

The second area that people struggle with is being held back by limiting beliefs, thoughts, or habits.

This might show up as a desire to change your career path to something which is more aligned with what you would really like to do. To have more freedom over your schedule, to be able to work around your family commitments, or to have more autonomy within your work. Or having a strong desire to start and grow your own practice, but not actually being able to move forward, and feeling overwhelmed.

Things like procrastination, a lack of confidence, or a fear of making big changes in your life may stop you in your tracks. There is nothing quite like deciding to become a solopreneur to magnify any small mindset issues that may have been lurking in the deeper recesses of your mind.

But what most people do is simply read a book, or complete a workshop, and expect to suddenly make these changes, simply because they now know what to do. But in reality this does not usually work as well as you may expect. Change takes time. It’s usually more of a convoluted journey, rather than the straightforward path that you might prefer.

The way to get through these mental and emotional blocks is by getting regular support whilst you work through them. This is why I have designed my programmes in such a way that you can access affordable long-term support.

Systems:

The third problem that people often encounter is simply not knowing enough about setting up or running a self-employed practice, and finding it too overwhelming to get their wellbeing practice off the ground.

Working for yourself can be challenging, especially if you have never done it before. Whilst you might expect to simply put up an advertisement, and have clients come to you, this does not often happen. So, many new practitioners end up paying out therapy room rental fees, and not making enough (or any) money for themselves. Or they place lots of expensive advertisements which don’t really work.

There are three main issues when it comes to developing business systems. First, heart-centred services are very different to most other approaches, which can often be very salesy, manipulative, or sleazy. Second, most sales and marketing programmes, even when they claim to be ‘spiritual’ can cost huge amounts of money. This is simply not feasible for a new practitioner who is starting out. Third, is the recurring problem that completing a course does not provide you with the ongoing support that you need to put these things into practice. So, you basically waste a lot of money, and don’t get very far anyway.

So, with these issues in mind, I have set up the Therapist Academy to provide accessible support for wellbeing service providers who want to align with their deeper calling, find meaningful work, and make a positive impact in the world. My intention for doing this is a genuine one – to offer support for my fellow practitioners who would like mentoring so that they can actually get their practice to thrive, make a decent living doing work they love, and help more people in the process.

There are 3 types of mentorship programme that you can choose from….
